Organization established background & develop history

The Hong Kong Green Nature Union ( Hong Kong ), also called Great Nature Union in the past, simplify as GNU or HKGNU, is an organization which established by a group of youth and aims at preserve and promote our natural eco-environment, and we mainly focus on teenage and youth as our target. This organization is established since summer 1999, found in Hong Kong, and our committee members majority took part in a variety of outdoor activities or non-outdoor activities, different secondary school works, publishing newsletters or books, exploring the eco-environment and other gathering functions, etc. Except we having a number of experience and knowledge, also we having a deep spirit on eco-environment preservation and concern the human society development. Additional, there is a lot of issues about environment protection recently, the gradually damaged of the natural environment also makes us to set up this organization to contribute our earth.

In the long time experience of life, we discovered that nowadays' youth most of them are love the nature too. Such as a simple trip, a beach and sun under summer, there have many things can make you feel likes and fascinating. Therefore, it makes us willing to put this positive theory spread out to others, and let the youth know themselves, fill their lives, and working hard to build a better life environment, also helping the next generation to preserve the treasure heritages. We believe that, for the purpose of let more youth to contact these kind of knowledge, it need to start from basic to deep, learning from fulfill, and prove it from the basic ability and understanding, and absorbing from cases, and finally it can achieve a ideal result. Thus, with a well-prepared system in a organization is necessary, we willing to do our best and make a bit contribution to our society. Nowadays Hong Kong is situated in extremely capitalism society, interests and profits are become the standard of calculation, and the society is widely be promoted a heavy consumerism, it makes the relationship between environment and human each other have a non-harmony development. Therefore, we believed that it is necessary to reconsider the phenomenon nowadays. We hope that we can develop a silence region in the complex society, breathing a fresh air at countryside, etc. With regard to this situation, to established a green organization is absolutely worth to us.

The established of the organization, mainly aims at most of people lack of the knowledge of natural environment things, and also improve the demerits of the youth about the team-works. Further, this kind of activities seldom occur in education, especially in secondary schools. Besides, most of our committees and members are during young period, also like a lot of outdoor activities and challenge themselves, this background is the organization established of us. These few years, we experienced many things and training ourselves, facing a series of difficulties and absorb experience from there, and learning how to overcome obstructions. In this circumstance, we will know what roles assumed in different period myself. To pound of oneself successful from reviewing the harshly experience before, is a feeling which the people living in cities difficult to feel.

Organization main aims / targets and basic concept

- Encourage to appreciate, protect and treasure our natural environment. Through the inspiration during the outdoor activities, let the people understand the fascinating and treasure of the great nature.
- Encourage the team-works and cooperation spirit each other, and let people understand the importance of friendship through the activities.
- Let the youth wider their sight, contact the things which forgotten by the society, and enhancing their interesting on geography and eco-environment knowledge.
- Hope the people can look for their personal spaces and interesting on the outdoor activities through different functions, and perform their advantages.
- Hope all members can through the activities understand and know the importance of environmental conservation.
- Through the works in the organization, let the members absorb different working experience and training their abilities on meeting any emergencies.
- Encourage the youth on thinking, learning to analyze different difficulties, and training their manner on handle different things.

Internal administrative structure introduction & activities types

Our organization administrative structure experience six years improves and modifies, until now, a perfect regulation has been made. The internal structure mainly divided into eight main departments, there are: Administrative department, Planning department, Accounting & financial department, Advisor & consultant department, Promotion & information department, Compile & design & technology support department, SS department, and finally is Research study department. On the other hand, some small units and groups are established. Each department has a number of units, teams and groups, handling different kinds of their department affairs, and enhance its efficiency. Basically, the SS department responsible region almost covers all the outdoor activities holding.

Our organization is grouped by a group of people who are concern the natural environment. One of the aims is exploring the natural environment through we are recognize it. Many years we are held a series of activities, and let the youth concern and aware of the future development of eco-environment in different places. Consequence, holding outdoor or countryside activities at a limited time and let the youth appreciate the fascinating sightseeing and natural ecosystem, are the mission we have been accustomed. Hopefully, when ones enjoy the traveling, at the meantime have to learn how to treasure the plants and animals, and learn the importance of protecting our natural environment, let our treasure garden can be maintained forever. Basically, we through the newsletters publish and the internet to promote, express information and planning functions and traveling, even the trips of environmental exploring and internal gathering, etc. We hope that more and more people can join our works, and protect our natural environment together. It is because, we only have one earth!
